About
I have spent most of my life in the woods starting out as a kid having parents that told us to get outta the house and play in the woods and field, just be back for supper or if you’re seriously hurt (like have to go to the hospital). I remember following my dad with a BB gun to make sure safety was ingrained before carrying a shotgun. We grew up with GSP’s, a Britt, and labs.
I went to college at UW Stevens Point and took me 5 years to graduate with a degree in Soil Science mostly because of skipping calculus and physics to grouse hunt. When I did finally graduate the perfect job offer came my way from the Soils department…a soil survey project leader was looking for a mediocre student that wasn’t too bright, that hunted and fished, worked hard and wouldn’t be scared off from skeets and ticks. The professors talked about it and said they had 1 candidate and I gladly accepted the temporary position. That led to nearly 30 years of spending nearly every day from April thru November in the woods.
I have grouse hunted for over 50 years and enjoy experimenting and learning new covers and ways to hunt them. I currently have 4 field bred English Cockers and have had cockers since about 2001. My wife and I also enjoy bird hunting trips to various western states and have been going at least once a year since 1994.
